Un-labour-ed Day!

Happy labour day! Today we celebrated Dad's birthday by feasting on pizzas and pasta and mango cheesecake. My sister and I got Dad a smartphone, but it might take a mighty long while for him to get used to the flicks and flips of the ubiquitous touchscreen.

By the way, thank you for leaving all these lovely comments here. I know this blog is relatively new (slightly more than a week old), so I did not much expect comments or feedback for quite a while. To have you leave these encouraging words is most motivating for me! Merci, et grosses bises! ♥♥

Peach Pleats and Roses

No flower of her kindred, no rosebud is nigh
To reflect back her blushes and give sigh for sigh.

-- Thomas Moore "Last Rose of Summer"

NOTES

It is a rare thing for a hobbit to find a wearable maxi skirt, much less one that is flattering to the figure. I admit I was taking a huge gamble when I placed my order on this peach confection, but I think it turned out alright  :)

Today I am going to mow the lawn with my family, then have a picnic of tea and ice-cream on the freshly-cut grass. It is spring after all! Have a great weekend, mes amis!

Grey Sky Morning

Grey sky, always in your eye
Where is the girl behind the cloud?

-- Carbon Leaf "Grey Sky Eyes"

NOTES

Today I am wearing the Essie #768 (Cocktail Bling) on my nails. The colour is a bit like grey cement ready for the walls, but it has a baby blue tinge that reminds me of grey skies in the morning, when one sips coffee while watching the rain through the kitchen window.

I just had an egg tart for tea, and now I'm trotting off to watch Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows (a bit late, I know). Bon week-end, mes amis!

Ballet and Butterflies

Across the sand, the stones and the shells, I went down to the sea.
And the golden-haired ballerina came down, and swam along with me.

-- Luka Bloom "Water Ballerina"

NOTES

Spring is always the best season for tulle. When my dear sister gave me this pastel tulle skirt last week, the word "ballerina" comes instinctively into my mind, along with the nifty hairbuns and all.

I love the ethereal feel this skirt imparts, yet at the same time I fear it would be too saccharine with all the pinks and pastels. Thus the need for the black quilted bag and manly boots.

This is my third post on blogspot, and the usage is not really as difficult as I imagined. Three cheers for that, blogspot!

The Enchanted Forest

The leaf came to dance with the maid, the mist whispered
In the deep rain, secrets forgotten so old that I saw.

-- Dark Moor "The Enchanted Forest"

NOTES

Sometimes you come across a dress that just has all the feminine nuances you hope for. You cannot help but be girlish and prim in it ... and go all flowery, singing in the woods.

I took these photos at my alma mater, National Taiwan University, last December, when the weather was warm enough to do so (not to worry, I did have a jacket on hand). It is a pity that this garden (built in memory of Fu Si-nian, our ex-dean) is not very popular among photographers ... it has a very classical European feel to it that would certainly flatter any photoshoot.

Oh, and the perfume by Nina Ricci -- the bottle is simply irresistable! I am lemming for the limited edition gold one now!
